DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY

In view of the increasing demand in Biotechnology as an interdisciplinary area, spurred by promising employment and research potential, The Department of Biotechnology was established in 2008-2009 as part of the three year B. Sc course with Biochemistry and Chemistry as the other core areas. Since its inception, the department has been striving to establish excellent academic ambiance by providing well equipped laboratory along with a well advanced curriculum.

The department has equipped spacious plant tissue culture laboratory with state of the art equipment for conducting teaching learning process and project work in the frontier areas of Biotechnology such as Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering.

The department organizes workshops and guest lectures regularly which will assist the students to interact with renowned scientists/ academicians. Our alumni are well placed in reputed institutions, industry and universities in India.

The department offers B.Sc. program in B.B.C (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry)

As per the revised CBCS based curriculum which is implemented from the academic year 2020 - 2021, three internships are mandatory for all the students irrespective of the type of college (Govt/ Private Aided Autonomous / constituent / Private Un-aided) and the programme of study (BA/B.Com/B.Sc/BBA/ Honours, etc.).
